Arturo Ávila Salazar – Americas Communications Consultant

Arturo is the Communications Consultant for the Americas, based in Mexico City.  He has over 10 years on experience on communications and human rights.

Prior to his role at IDC, Arturo worked at the Communications Unit of The Office in Mexico of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Previously, he was responsible for Media Relations in Open Society Justice Initiative (OSJI) Mexico Project, and collaborated as Regional Communications Officer for México, Cuba and Central America for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and as Head of Communication at Amnesty International Mexico (AI).

As a consultant, he has worked with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Mexico’s Gender Program and with the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR).

Arturo holds a degree in systems engineering from Universidad La Salle, in Mexico.
