IDC is deeply impactful in the Asia Pacific, enabling government pilots, civil society programmes, peer learning and coalition building.
IDC has been working in Asia Pacific since 2009, building advocacy networks and working closely with policymakers, governments and other actors.
We have made major progress in the region, enabling government pilots, civil society programmes, peer learning and coalition building. By successfully advocating for the development of concrete action on alternatives to detention, we have helped to free detained children and families across the region. Our work in Asia Pacific has been profoundly important and has focused on advocacy efforts in Southeast Asia.
But we are not stopping there. Right now, we are strengthening community voices and focusing on direct engagement with governments. Together, we are working towards a kinder, more effective approach to migration governance systems that don’t rely on immigration detention.
