A lawyer by profession, Gigi is the Regional Coordinator for the Americas office.
Previously she worked as an independent researcher in migration, asylum and human rights issues, with a view to policy and legislative reform in a variety of specific areas.
Gisele is an associate consultant and board member for the think tank, Instituto de Estudios y Divulgacion sobre Migracion, A.C., and has undertaken projects with INCEDES (a think tank in Guatemala) and the UNHCR Policy and Evaluation Unit.
Prior to working independently, she directed the legal and social services division for migrant and refugee assistance in the only Mexican NGO specializing on these issues, Sin Fronteras, I.A.P.
She has a business administration and law degree from the University of Cape Town, and a Masters degree in International Law and Development from Georgetown University.
Gisele is a member of the New York and South African Bars and of the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration.
