Leeanne Torpey – Communications and Campaigns Coordinator

The global campaign supports and shares knowledge with national campaigns by coordinating messaging, and, where appropriate, leverages the connections of the civil society network which initiated the campaign, the International Detention Coalition.

Leeanne has worked to develop and disseminate training in media to promote empowerment and community development, including working in Western Sydney at Information and Cultural Exchange, as a reporter with the Australian Broadcasting Commission and in Tonga with the Women and Children Crisis Centre who received a Pacific Humans Rights Award and Organization Activist Award for projects she coordinated.

Leeanne has a Graduate Diploma in Journalism and a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney.
