Amnesty International Netherlands held a symposium on Alternatives to Detention, with over 100 attendees of civil society, listening to government representatives from across Europe. IDC’s Grant Mitchell presented, as did Pieter Stockman from IDC member organisation Flemish Refugee Action, who highlighted that 870 children have avoided detention in Belgium since legislative change in 2008.
