The long list: benefits of being an IDC member

Benefits of being an IDC member include:

  • Members will receive the IDC’s International Detention Monitor (IDM), the only multi-lingual monthly newsletter with a specific content focused on issues and news related to immigration detention from around the world;
  • The IDC may promote member organisational profiles, resources and events through the IDM or other IDC materials;
  • Members are invited to contribute content to be featured in the IDM and to share information and resources with other IDC Members and the IDC;
  • Members will receive access to a secure section of the IDC website with training, information and other member-targeted resources (currently under development);
  • Members will receive invitations and priority funding support where possible to attend annual IDC Regional Workshops; and
  • Members are invited to attend an annual IDC Member Planning Meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.
  • The IDC represents members at national, regional and international forums where they align with the IDC Mission Statement and IDC Core Position;
  • The IDC convenes a number of high-level meetings, panel events and stakeholder engagement opportunities, which members may be invited to contribute to and participate in;
  • The IDC produces submissions to key stakeholders globally drawing from the views of members where they align with the IDC Mission Statement and IDC Core Position;
  • The IDC produces a number of advocacy tools and resources to assist members in domestic, regional and international advocacy efforts; and
  • Members may seek the advice and support of the IDC staff and other members with regard to their own advocacy efforts relating to immigration detention.
  • Members have access to IDC campaign resources and support in launching domestic or regional campaigns related to immigration detention;
  • Members may be featured in a range of IDC communications, including the IDC website, the IDM and social media;
  • The IDC may produce or endorse public statements, press releases, campaigns, and other actions related to immigration detention where they align with the IDC Mission Statement and IDC Core Position; and
  • Members may seek the advice and support of the IDC staff and other members with regard to their own awareness raising and campaign activities relating to immigration detention
  • The IDC produces research related to immigration detention and best practices to support members in their work;
  • The IDC may promote the research of members related to immigration detention on our website and/or in the IDM; and
  • The IDC may assist members with regard to their own research initiatives relating to immigration detention.
