COVID-19 & Immigration Detention: What Can Governments & Other Stakeholders Do?

IDC serves as co-lead of the Alternatives to Detention (ATD) Working Group of the United Nations Network on Migration, alongside UNHCR and UNICEF. In this role, IDC co-produced this briefing as part of a series by the Network looking at different aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic and how they relate to migrants and their communities. This document aims to provide practical guidance to States and other stakeholders in preventing and responding to COVID-19 in the context of immigration detention, highlighting instances of promising practices as useful models to draw from.
