IDC Members and supporters of the Global Campaign to End Child Detention across Africa participated in a regional social media strategy on June 16, the Day of the African Child, highlighting that across Africa, thousands of children are locked in prisons or in camps because they do not have the right papers.

The Digital strategy was the first of several collaborative digital “days of action” in the lead up to an event on detention that will be held at the 57th Session of the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights.

Supporters of the Global Campaign to End Child Detention across Africa are collecting all the information they can to produce a report on child detention in Africa, highlighting the urgent need for more comprehensive information on the numbers & locations where children are detained.
