IDC Advocacy Coordinator Ben Lewis, and a number of IDC members recently attended an Asia-wide preparatory regional consultation on the 2nd UN High Level Dialogue on Migration and Development, organized by Migrant Forum in Asia, Building and Woodworkers International, UNI APRO, PSI Asia Pacific Region, and the Global Coalition on Migration on 27-28 May 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand.

This was one in a series of preparatory meetings and consultations to prepare for the 2nd UN High Level Dialogue (HLD) on Migration and Development, taking place in New York on 3-4 October 2013.

The IDC is coordinating the response of our members and partners with regard to the placement of immigration detention and Alternatives to Detention (ATD) on the High Level Dialogue agenda, including the priorities and language coming from various UN-sponsored regional consultations and parallel civil society regional consultations.

If you or someone from your organisation with be attending any of these HLD preparatory meetings or the 2nd UN High Level Dialogue itself, (3-4 October 2013) please contact IDC Advocacy Coordinator, Ben Lewis, for IDC’s talking points and official position on the High Level Dialogue.
