This month the focus in MENA is on Israel as the country introduces the new ‘Anti-Infiltration’ legislation.
This controversial legislation allows for detention of up to three years, without charge, for any refugee, asylum seeker or migrants who crossed the border irregularly.
The legislation, along with construction of a larger detention centres to accommodate more migrants, and of a massive wall along the border with Egypt, is designed to stop migrants, mainly African, arriving irregularly in Israel via Egypt.
