The UN General Assembly (UNGA) will convene a high-level plenary meeting on “addressing large movements of refugees and migrants”, on 19 September 2016, immediately prior to the general debate of the 71st session of the General Assembly, which is scheduled to begin on 20 September.
On 29 March 2016, IDC Advocacy Coordinator, Ben Lewis, attended one of a series of meetings facilitated by the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA) to present civil society inputs to the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Advisor on the 19 September UNGA High-Level Plenary Meeting, Ms. Karen Abuzayd. You can read the ICVA summary of this and other NGO meetings held with Ms. AbuZayd here.
ICVA, together with the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC), are partnering to continue facilitating NGO inputs and involvement in this important, high-level political process.
