- General guidelines for case management of migrant children and adolescents
In specialised intervention with migrant children and adolescents (children and adolescents) and subjects of international protection, we encounter a wide variety of actors, conflicts and even legislation that complicate the guarantee of this population’s access to their rights, in general, and their right to personal liberty, in particular. Faced with this, Case Management in Alternatives to Immigration Detention advocates for a humane approach, unreservedly respectful of the right to personal liberty of children and adolescents, which mitigates the negative effects of immigration detention and maintains the search for the best interests of the child.
Sin Fronteras IAP, with the support of the International Detention Coalition (IDC), presents the following infographics with the aim of providing case managers – or those in similar roles – with some operational principles for intervention with children and adolescents in situations of human mobility that will enable them to improve their work to guarantee and restore their rights, their best interests and the adequacy of their actions when dealing with migrant children and adolescents, asylum seekers, refugees or those subject to international protection*.
* These infographics are the product of the comprehensive document “General Guidelines for the Case Management of Migrant Children and Adolescents and Subjects of International Protection” developed by Sin Fronteras IAP and the International Coalition Against Detention, which can be found in its electronic version on the websites of both institutions.
