The 153rd period of sessions of the Interamerican Commission on Human Rights to be held from October 23 to November 7, will be important for migrants’ rights throughout the Americas.
With the support of over 160 organisations and networks from the region, the IDC will present a regional thematic hearing on immigration detention and alternatives to detention before the Commission, based on a study carried out by IDC covering 21 countries in the Americas.
In addition, the IDC has collaborated with its members on two other hearings with related regional themes that have also been accepted, on access to asylum under the Cartagena +30 Initiative (coordinated by Asylum Access Ecuador and Sin Fronteras) and on comprehensive protection of migrant children (coordinated by Centro de Derechos Humanos Fray Matias de Cordova and the Universidad de Lanus).

El 153 periodo de sesiones de la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, que tendrán lugar del 23 de octubre al 7 de noviembre, es de especial importancia para los derechos de los migrantes en las Americas.
El IDC, con el apoyo de mas de 160 organizaciones y redes de la region, presentará una audiencia temática regional ante la CIDH sobre la detención por razones migratorias y las alternativas a la detención, con base en un estudio realizado por el IDC que incluye a 21 paises de las Americas.
El IDC tambien ha colaborado con sus miembros en dos audiencias con tematicas regionales relacionadas que tambien han sido aceptadas, sobre el acceso al asilo con la Iniciativa Cartagena +30 (coordinada por Asylum Access Ecuador y Sin Fronteras) y sobre la proteción integral de la niñez migrante en la region (coordinado por el Centro de Derechos Humanos Fray Matias de Cordova y la Universidad de Lanus).
