Carolina Carreño Nigenda

Americas Childhood Project Officer
Carolina works as Childhood Project Officer for IDC's Americas Regional Programme, contributing to the implementation of a project to prevent the detention of children and their families in Mexico. Prior to that, she worked in the Human Rights Commission of Mexico City to maintain dialogue with local government authorities, human rights organisations, UN agencies and civil society, to promote respect and guarantee the rights of migrant people. Previously, she also collaborated for almost 15 years with Sin Fronteras, a civil society organisation assisting migrants and refugees in areas of psychosocial support and also monitoring immigration detention centers, among other activities. Carolina is also a co-author of publications related to immigration detention, psychosocial support, mental health and migration.
