Gisele Bonnici


Americas Regional Coordinator
GISELE BONNICI joined the IDC as the Americas Regional Coordinator in 2011. Prior to that, she worked as an independent researcher in migration, asylum and human rights issues, with a focus on policy and legislative reform. Gisele is an associate consultant and board member for the think tank, Instituto de Estudios y Divulgacion sobre Migracion, A.C., and has undertaken projects with INCEDES (a think tank in Guatemala) and the UNHCR Policy and Evaluation Unit. She also previously directed the legal and social services division for migrant and refugee assistance in the only Mexican NGO specialising on these issues, Sin Fronteras, I.A.P. She has a business administration and law degree from the University of Cape Town, and a Master’s degree in International Law and Development from Georgetown University. Gisele is a member of the New York and South African Bars, and the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration.
