Hannah Jambunathan

Community & Engagement Organiser - Malaysia
Hannah Reshma Jambunathan joined IDC as Community & Engagement Organiser - Malaysia in 2022. Prior to that, she worked in the areas of capacity building, community mobilisation, advocacy, research, and youth empowerment. In her previous role as Capacity Building Officer with Women’s Aid Organisation, she developed and delivered ‘Safe Community’ training and workshops to grassroot communities (both local and refugee), government bodies, and corporate entities. She has also led initiatives to build capacities of media practitioners and citizen journalists to ensure gender-progressive and equitable reporting, and steered projects that address negative cultural norms and gender-based discrimination against teenage girls, enabling them to organise and demand policy change. Hannah has extensive experience leading feminist-focused research, and has conducted a pioneering study on street harassment while pursuing her Honours Degree in Gender Studies at the School of Arts and Social Sciences of Monash University. She continues to be actively involved in advancing women's rights in Malaysia and works closely with Kemban Kolektif and other civil society movements to shape empowered communities and build pathways to a better future for women and children in Malaysia.
