Our Team
Lilian Obiye is a human rights advocacy practitioner with over eight years experience working with forced migrants in the East and Horn of Africa. Lilian has a Bachelor's in Law and a Masters in Law with a focus on International Public Law, both from the University of Nairobi.
In 2022, Lilian was recognised and awarded as Civil Society Advocate of the Year by the Law Society of Kenya for her active participation in advancing the protection of forced migrants. Lilian has participated in various advocacy interventions at the community, national, regional and international levels. Some notable advocacy interventions include participating in the review of the Refugees Act in Kenya among other legislation, participation in development of regional policies and development of shadow reports and alternate reports for various treaty reporting at the international level.
Lilian is passionate about empowering persons with lived experience and has participated in numerous capacity building sessions with communities and duty bearers such as police, judiciary and members of parliament. Lilian has also drafted various published articles on protection of forced migrants as a way to raise awareness. Lilian loves outdoor activities, hiking and cooking new recipes.
