In a case brought by the American Civil Liberties Union for prolonged detention of almost 3 years on behalf of a Senegalese migrant, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit ruled September 1st that immigrants in detention must be given a bond hearing within a reasonable time. This judgment should positively affect the processing of cases of migrants being held in detention in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
