The Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) continued their call for fair and humane immigration reform at a White House meeting held on August 20, 2009, hosted by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.
President Barack Obama closed the session with an offering of hope for those seeking reform: “We need sensible and humane immigration reform that reflects our nation of laws and of immigrants”.
