IDC is doubling down on research, advocacy and partnerships in the Middle East and North Africa.

Since 2011, IDC has been working in MENA – a region where the stakes for humane immigration solutions are high and where some of the most difficult situations concerning immigration detention prevail.

We have built the capacity of different actors in multiple countries, researched the detention landscape across the region, and facilitated network building and advocacy in the region.

The MENA region sees massive amounts of migration and forced movement, making it even more critical to develop humane alternatives to detention in the area.

On a local level, community hosting – taking in migrants locally – isn’t just a policy, it’s a cultural norm. Right now, we are working to make this the gold standard for migration management.
