The IDC cordially invites its Members to join us for this year’s annual strategic litigation roundtable being hosted by the office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), HIAS, and Asylum Access, on 14 June 2016 from 15:00 – 18:00. Here, we will discuss and debate the ways the law, and strategic litigation in particular, can help refugees and stateless persons access rights and obtain protection.

The first session of the day will focus on the importance of strategic litigation. This will be followed by national and regional updates on how litigation has shaped the rights of refugees and stateless persons, and highlight new issues on the horizon. The discussion will then centre on the rights of children, including the detention of children, socio-economic rights of children (such as education and health), children and statelessness as well as the use of the Convention on the Rights of the Child to advance these rights.  The last session of the day will focus on building coalitions and co-ordinating complex litigation.

Any questions can be directed to: [email protected]

To attend the event, please RSVP here by 7 June 2015.

We look forward to seeing you there as we continue to advocate to protect the rights of refugees and stateless persons and end detention of children.
