Regional: June 17 marked the Day of the African Child and the 25th Anniversary of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACRWC). Children all over Africa locked in prisons or detainment camps because they do not have the required identification documents.

The influx into Tanzania of 70, 000 Burundian refugees fleeing a “climate of menace” maintained by the militia group Imbonerakure, allied to Nkurunziza’s ruling CNDD-FDD party, has placed extreme pressure on the Tanzanian Government’s and humanitarian organisations’ refugee infrastructure.
