To draw attention to the perilous journeys migrants and refugees often embark on worldwide, as well as their increased risk of falling victim to human rights violations and abuses, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and Quaker United Nations Office (QUNO) have organized this side event, co-sponsored by the International Detention Coalition (IDC), the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the UN, Human Rights Watch, Caritas Internationalis, and the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC).

The event aims to discuss issues related to the protection and promotion of the human rights of all migrants and refugees, underscore the centrality of human rights ahead of the General Assembly’s High Level Meeting, and explore the role of the Human Rights Council in this regard.

The side event will take place on Wednesday, 29 June, at the Palais des Nations, Room XXV, from 15:00-17:00. The event is open to all participants to this year’s 32nd Session of the Human Rights Council.
