Mary Cruse heads up strategic communications at IDC. Her role helps to shine a light on immigration detention and the people impacted by it, allowing more people to discover IDC's vital work.

Mary started her career as a communicator for a particle accelerator and has since written for newspapers, publishing houses, NGOs, start-ups, international foundations and government. She is passionate about storytelling and the power of words to effect change.

A trained journalist and published author, Mary's background spans refugees and migration, human rights, global health and international development.
